i looked up the definition of LISTEN tonight & i was so struck with its simplicity...
heed with intention
amazing...i just find it so cool that something that can be SO hard to do...to REALLY do...is so simply explained...but there ya go :)
to LISTEN you must heed with intention...
to LISTEN you can't just hear some words...or music...or a message...
you can't LISTEN without consciously making an effort to pay attention to what is being heard...maybe that's why it is so tough sometimes...it's the "paying attention" part...we all have so much on our minds...or in our schedule...or in our own experience that at times we can stop paying attention & then there goes the LISTENING right out the window...
i got a coffee from Starbucks recently & on the back of the cup was written the following:
You can learn a lot more from listening than you can from talking. Find someone with whom you don't agree in the slightest and ask them to explain themselves at length. Then take a seat, shut your mouth, and don't argue back. It's physically impossible to listen with your mouth open. - John Moe
i'm going to try it...i'm going to strive to start to LISTEN, really LISTEN...not just hear what is going on around me...i think it will make a huge difference in my relationship with my husband, my kids, my friends, my family....and maybe even those people with whom i "don't agree in the slightest" :)
i think it may also help me take note of all the wonderfulness that surrounds me...the stuff that often times may go unnoticed & taken for granted...& in this month of November where here in the U.S. we celebrate Thanksgiving in a few weeks...i think LISTENING may be a great place to start on that road to gratefulness :)
so what is it that you LISTEN to?...or want to LISTEN to?...or don't want to LISTEN to? we'd love it if you would share your story with us
this week...our creative team was also sponsored by our fun and fabulous sponsor, Kenner Road!!! YAY!!! so check out what we did with the kits (unfortunately Revlie, Gudrun, and Denise were not able to get kits in time...but their work is stunning!!). And this very same beautiful October kit is up for grabs!
all you have to do is LISTEN to your heart & mind and then create! Speaking of creating, not only did our OLW team come up with some awesome pages/projects but we have not one, but TWO, that's right TWO Guest Designers this time. UNBELIEVABLE goodness & inspiration.
Back with us this week is the incredible Glenda Tkalac.
Love her artsy way of creating such unique pages. She always catches our attention. And here is her beautiful creation.
and OLW is pleased to announce that we have Kenner Road's very own Kerry Lynn Yeary with us!
Kerry is a beacon of inspiration in the scrapbook world and you can find her at many other scrapbook places: Hambly Studios, Creative Therapy, and Picture Me Perfect. And here is her wickedly awesome creation:
and don't forget to link up your LISTEN creations by Friday, November 14th Midnight Mountain time, (-7 GMT) for your chance to get your hands on this kit!!!

I just discovered OLW yesterday. It's a great site and concept. Reminds me of Illustration Friday. Anyhoo, I jumped right on the LISTEN challenge. I used one of my all-time favorite photos...me TRYING to do some yoga.
