Word Up # 41: MIRACLE

Word up this week is MIRACLE.  This certainly is the season for miraculous and divinely inspired events.  A single flask of oil meant to light the menorah in the Jewish temple lasted eight days and nights instead of only one.  A Saviour was born to a virgin mother in a lowly stable.  Angels appeared to shepards in the fields.  WOW! 

Are there still miracles happening?  Some people feel that a miracle is only something that defies the natural order of things, something supernatural and not of the every day. 

Ralph Waldo Emerson encourages us to see MIRACLES as simple events.  He says, "The invariable mark of wisdom is to see the miraculous in the common."

Albert Einstein says, "There are only two ways to live your life.  One is that nothing is a miracle and the other is that everything is a miracle."

The word MIRACLE is derived from the Latin word miraculum, which means, "something wonderful"   How many things are there that fill you with wonder?  The first snow of winter, a lover's kiss, holding your teenagers hand in public (miracle), getting that phone call you were hoping for, or simply a change of heart or attitude about something you've been struggling with.  Big or small, let's open our hearts and minds to seeing as many MIRACLES as we can this holiday season!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!
